One capture at the source
A weighbridge photo, a gate stamp, a seal number, a boarding mark. In every case the highest-value change was the cheapest one: capturing the fact once, where it happens, by the person already standing there.

A cost with an owner
Detention, idle hours, decanting loss, branch cash, empty seats. None of these were new costs. They became manageable at the point they stopped being fleet averages and started belonging to a route, a driver or a customer.

Every one of these fleets repriced something. None of them lost the customer over it, and each says the same thing about why: the numbers arrived with their working shown.
